Staincliffe's Sorcerers Y6

Welcome to Year 6 - Staincliffe's Sorcerers

The Sorcerers are a very different class from the rest of the school.  As we are the oldest children, we are allowed to wear the school tie and a blue shirt.  Our classroom is close to the school entrance. We are expected to take on a few extra responsibilities.  All of this is because, at Middleton Tyas our ultimate aim is to help children to develop all of the important life skills that allow us to stop thinking about just ourselves, and start thinking about everyone else around us.  It also gets us ready for moving on to our next school - A secondary school, where life is going to be different!

Homework is given out on Monday and is due in on Friday.  Often, as with other classes, this work will be on 'I am Learning', however they will be asked to complete some written homework either by hand or using the computer. We expect Year 6 children to read at least 4 times a week to an adult and that the children spend at least ten minutes learning their multiplication tables each day (there is a useful homework task on to help with this). We ask that parents sign their child’s planner to show that this has been completed.

Please make sure that all school uniform and PE kit is clearly labelled. We advise kits to be in school on Monday and taken home on Friday.

Please encourage your child to bring a water bottle to school every day as this will avoid dehydration.

Please let the school and the year group teacher know if your child has any allergies (that we do not already know about) or needs to take any medication.

Please remind your child to bring a coat every day in the winter months.
