PE & Sports Funding

Primary School PE and Sports Funding

“Schools must use the funding to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of PE and sport they offer.

This means that you should use the premium to:

  • Develop or add to the PE and sport activities that your school already offers
  • Make improvements now that will benefit pupils joining the school in future years”

(DFE Website)

Schools with 17 or more eligible pupils receive £8,000 and an additional payment of £5 per pupil. Middleton Tyas currently has 157 pupils on role so as a school Middleton Tyas will therefore receive £8785 this academic year (delivered in installments).

Eppleby Forcett currently has 23 children on role, so as a school Eppleby Forcett will therefore receive £8115 this academic year (delivered in installments).

By ensuring our staff receive regular CPD, using qualified sport coaches and using up to date equipment, our children are able to access a variety of regular sporting activities and clubs. High quality curriculum PE and extra-curricular sports clubs have ensured our children continue to make good progress across the subject.

Below is a table outlining how our schools have used our funding, and how this is helping to enhance PE and benefit our children.

Richmond High School Sports Package

By buying into the sports package offered by Richmond High School (RHS), children are able to continue attending the different festivals and competitions that happen throughout the school year. This enables them to take part in competitive and fun sports with children from around our area.

The Richmond High School Package also provides specialist PE coaches to come in and run some of our extra-curricular PE/Sports clubs. This means children are able to access a larger variety of extra-curricular clubs, led by fully qualified coaches, and thus enhance their experience of PE.

Collaborative PE

We will use our link with Eppleby Forcett primary school to conduct more collaborative PE and sports. We have already collaborated with swimming, a synthetic ice-rink and street dance.

New Resources

New resources have been purchased for Eppleby Forcett to ensure that there is adequate provision for when the site becomes an Early Years Setting.

Circus Skills Day

Using the funding to support a “Mini Big Top” day, ensures children are able to access skills and activities that they might not have otherwise been able to access.
