McKinty's Meerkats Y3

Welcome to Year 3 - McKinty's Meerkats

We are a happy and welcoming class who enjoy our learning. Every week we build on what we have already learnt and are challenged in things that are new. We help each other and work as a team every day to achieve the best that we can. There is

a real love for learning in our class.

All of our lessons are built around a fun and creative curriculum that provides us with the opportunity to explore our different interests. Our numeracy and literacy lessons enable us to learn new and exciting things. Together we will enjoy the challenge KS2 brings.

We read at home and we also have target books. Both of which really help support our learning.

Our topic for the Autumn Term is 'Transport and Trade'.  We are looking forward to exploring life during the Victorian era using this topic.

Notes for Parents:

  • Homework - Homework will be set each half term using a Homework Menu.  This will allow your child to choose which piece of homework they want to complete from the menu each week.  Spellings will be given out in spelling books and these will go home each Friday for a test the following Friday.

  • Please try to hear your child read at least three times a week and sign their planner. This isn’t just about hearing them read but talking about what they are reading and checking that they understand.

  • Please make sure that all school uniform and PE kit is clearly labelled. We advise kits to be in school on Monday and taken home on Friday.

  • We recommend your child brings a water bottle to school everyday, as being well hydrated helps both health and learning.

  • Can we ask you to let the school and Miss. McKinty know if your child has any allergies (that we do not already know about) or needs to take any medication?

  • Please ensure your child comes to school suitably dressed for the weather which can be really variable.

  • Miss. McKinty will always try to be available at the end of the day should you wish to speak with her.  We hope you will enjoy hearing about all the exciting things we are doing in our class!
