We follow the National Curriculum for the teaching of Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) and teach French as an additional language in KS2.

At our school, children are introduced to the language and culture of France at a basic level in Key Stage One. This is mostly in the form of language play, games and songs.

In Key Stage Two, we follow the North Yorkshire Scheme, which is a progressive scheme.

Please see the attached document below which details the learning outcomes throughout Key Stage Two.

We also endeavour to personalise the teaching of MFL in our school by incorporating other cultures, countries and languages into our Topic teaching where appropriate.
