Bartle's Bears Y1

Welcome to Year 1 - Bartle's Bears

Miss Bartle is our class teacher and Mrs Brown & Ms Booth are our Teaching Assistants.  We enjoy learning through practical activities, play and singing, but also like to record our learning by writing in our books.  There is still time to build in the construction area, dress-up or act out a puppet show in the role-play area and relax with a book and tell stories in our reading garden.

We try to follow our school rules and class promises and get bees for working hard and showing good behaviour.  We also understand that there are consequences if we are silly or misbehave.  There is a star of the week award and parents and carers are invited by letter, to join us celebrate this achievement.  We hope you will enjoy hearing about all the exciting things we are doing in our class. Please visit our class page on the school blog to be kept up to date.

Notes for Parents:

  • We are keen to develop a love of reading for pleasure, so please listen to your child reading regularly and sign their reading record.  If school books have been read at home and the comprehension of the book has been checked, they will be changed on Mondays and/or Thursdays.  We encourage children to read their own books at home and this can also be included in your child’s reading record.
  • Please make sure that all school uniform and PE kit is clearly labelled. We advise kits to be in school and taken home at the end of each half term.  Our PE days are Wednesday and Thursday.
  • Please encourage your child to bring a water bottle to school every day as this will avoid dehydration and help us to stay healthy.
  • Please ensure your child comes to school suitably dressed for the weather, with a waterproof coat every day during the winter months.
